Pet Odour
Pets make excellent companions, they are cute, they’re cuddly and they tend to make a mess, but we still love them. Even the most trained animals living in an indoor environment will unfortunately leave an odour to a household.
The most common smells and stains associated with animals are urine based. These are usually ongoing problems as animals are attracted back to the same spots causing on-going saturation.
The 3 main issues concerning customers are;
- Visual – stains associated with the mark
- The bacteria
- The odours
The most problematic issue with urine is the liquid travels through the carpet and into the underlay making it difficult to extract and remove the reoccurring odours.
Process of
- Locate the offending odours using UV light and determine the most effective plan of attack.
- Depending on the severity of the issue we may be required to lift the carpet and replace the underlay and carpet.
- Option 1; treating the solution from the top down using specifically designed urine treatment. This process is only effective if the liquid has not transferred through to the subfloor. The cleaning agent is injected with water and simultaneously vacuumed out with the steam cleaner.
- Option 2; Is for more heavily soiled carpets involving lifting the carpet and removing the underlay, cleaning the concrete base, or floorboards. Applying an enzyme based treatment to the top of the fibres and the backing, steam clean the affected area. Apply a deodoriser with a deterrent for animals to re-offend.
- Option 3; If the area is beyond repair we suggest removing carpet and underlay, treating the subfloor and replacing the carpet.
